Executive Producer
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
This position will assist the News Director in leading the overall vision, production quality and editorial content for all multimedia news platforms on a day to day basis. Identifying engaging content, teaching others how to do so, and developing a roadmap to meet the goals of our company.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Write and copy edit news stories for on-air broadcast and digital platforms
• Write and teach staff to write in an engaging and authentic manner
• Teach staff to develop content through social listening and independent sources
• Teach staff how to research for facts and credibility
• Skillfully use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content
• Responsible for directing producers, reporters and photographers to complete assigned tasks, and structuring newscasts to fit within time parameters
• Active participant in editorial meetings and take a leadership role in generating story ideas
• Must be active in social media and embrace producing content for multiple platforms
• Oversee feedback and training for Newscast Producers
• Approve Newscast Producers’ daily rundowns
• Work with News Director to coordinate Newscast Producer schedules
• Input on hiring and/or termination of Newscast Producer
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude and desire to win
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Enterprise news stories
• 3-5 years of experience supervising and leading other journalists
• Lead and inspire news teams to work together for a great newscast
• Coach and inspire on air talent to be engaging
• Perform other tasks as required by News Director
• College degree in English, Broadcast Journalism, or Mass Communications or equivalent experience
• Proven experience producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content
• Strong social media skills, including an active newshound presence on Twitter and Facebook
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines
• Experience handling live, breaking news situations and changing events in a calm manner
• Proficient in multi-tasking, and have a flexible work schedule
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Good eyesight and hearing, ability to walk upstairs and sometimes long distances, ability to lift weights up to 10 pounds, ability to sit for a long period of time, ability to handle often stressful situations under deadline, good manual and overall physical dexterity.
