WFXG Fox 54 in Augusta, Georgia, is currently recruiting for a full-time, Anchor to join our growing news operation.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and produce stories for air, web, and social media platforms as assigned by Producer or News management for newscasts, specials, and special projects
- Report live from the field or studio as assigned by Producer or News management
- Travel as necessary in the execution of assigned duties
- Look for points of differentiation in storytelling, including walking & talking in stand-ups and live shots
- Work independently with excellent editorial judgment
- Publish news stories to WFXG.com and social media multiple times each day
- Be available on-call as assigned
- Drive station vehicles and travel long distances as assigned
- Select, write, produce, edit, and presents news, weather, and sports stories for newscasts
- Create a fast-paced, visually stimulating, and well-written newscast that follows WFXG News Brand
- Have the ability to handle live, breaking news
- Emphasize live-local coverage and find points of difference from our competition
- Determine a story’s emphasis, length, and format
- Manage graphics and animation for stories
- Possess strong reporting skills
- Select and write stories for web and social media platforms
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Utilize social media and website to reinforce brand recognition and drive viewership
- Support and champion the WFXG news brand within the station and in the public
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- At least two years live, on-air reporting on television
- Producing knowledge preferred
- Ability to work independently and have strong editorial judgement
- Pleasant and engaging in appearance and demeanor
- High School graduate, college degree in Broadcast Journalism, Mass Communications or English preferred
- Must have positive demeanor and the ability to work well with others and contribute daily
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record complaint with our Vehicle Driving Safety Policy
- Proficiency with iNews
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Good eyesight and hearing, ability to walk upstairs and sometimes long distances, ability to lift weights up to 10
pounds, ability to sit for a long period of time, ability to handle often stressful situations under deadline, good
manual and overall physical dexterity.
